ALine coaching are very excited and proud to be supported by some brilliant UK companies.
Firstly, we are excited to work with our title sponsor, biketart , beginning in 2025. The coaches at ALine have long used biketart online store and so it is great to partner up. They bring in top MTB brands, such as Santa Cruz, Yeti, Mondraker and Marin. Anyone who books into an ALine course or private is also provided with a 10% voucher to spend at biketart - win win for everyone involved.
Secondly, we are stoked to work with iconic brans, Burgtec. Burgtec help us out with all the finishing touches. Great producets that work amazing, feel great and look awesome.
Check out Gareth’s Santa Cruz Nomad, supplied by biketart.

The bike is an absolute weapon!
Some likes and tendencies for my bike set up:
I have played about with bar width over the past couple of years going narrower, but have reverted back to 780mm and loving it. Occasionally go back to 770mm.
I tend to ride a pretty stiff set up, both in suspension and tyres, likely due to growing up riding dirt jumps and skate parks; I like a bike to skip over stuff, as apposed to being silky smooth and softer. I have tried going softer with a faster rebound, which tends to be the current trend, but find it doesn’t have the support I am after!
I pretty much always lean towards grip when it comes to tyre rubber and cassing - I very rarely run tyres that ‘role faster’, instead opting for grippy tread patterns. This is likely a product of the terrain I ride most of the time. Largely, we are all products of our environment.
I often run high pressures in the rear tyre… mainly due to having broke pretty much any rear rim I have owned, despite running higher pressures. So I bought these carbon Santa Cruz Reserve wheels to put an end to that… In the first 6 months of owning these rims I went through two on the rear! But since being replaced under warranty and tyres coming with better side wall protection as standard (from 2022 onwards it seems), it has been sweet. Again I think this is a product of riding really rocky terrain pretty much every ride… nothing lasts forever, especially in harsh environments
Other than that, its pretty standard setup.
