ALine coaching are very excited and proud to be supported by some brilliant UK companies.

Firstly, our title sponsor and good friends, Cotic Bikes, have backed ALine Coaching for over 5 years! We are very proud of this. Their wide array of bikes ride amazingly well, look great, and continue to receive praise across the biking industry. Cotic are a bike manufacturer based in Peak District, near Sheffield. They design, test and shred all of their bikes around the Peak District, so you know you are getting a great product. ALine UK have been on Cotic for a number of years now and we only have positive things to say about the bikes, but also the company and how they operate.

Check out Gareth’s Cotic RocketMax set up below.

I essentially run a Gold build.

  • Frame: x2 Cotic Rocket Max / Size: C3 and C2.

  • Cockpit: Nukeproof Sam Hill riser bar. Width: 780mm, 38mm rise, 35mm Nukeproof, stem ODI grips,

  • Forks: RockShox Zeb ultimate 170mm, 65-70psi (20%’ish sag), mid level rebound damping, two clicks HSC and one click LSC damping and two volume spacers

  • Shock: Cane Creek Double Barrel Air Shock, 135-140psi (25%’ish sag), lots of rebound damping, a little high speed compression damping and a little-mid low speed compression damping, max volume spacers

  • Wheels: MX (29”front and 27.5”rear) Santa Cruz Reserve carbon wheels on Hope Pro4 hubs

  • Tyres: Maxxis or Continental. Current set up is: Front; Maxxis Assegai, DH casing max grip, 25psi / Rear; Maxxis DHR2, DH casing max terra, 28psi / Rimpact insert

  • Cockpit set up: Main thing I am picky on is lever setup. 18cm from the end of the bar and have a 21 degree angle on them

  • Pedals: Flats predominantly. Unite Instinct flat pedal or Crankbrothers Mallet E LS clipped pedal.

The bike is an absolute weapon!

Some likes and tendencies for my bike set up:

  • I have played about with bar width over the past couple of years going narrower, but have reverted back to 780mm and loving it. Occasionally go back to 770mm.

  • I tend to ride a pretty stiff set up, both in suspension and tyres, likely due to growing up riding dirt jumps and skate parks; I like a bike to skip over stuff, as apposed to being silky smooth and softer. I have tried going softer with a faster rebound, which tends to be the current trend, but find it doesn’t have the support I am after!

  • I pretty much always lean towards grip when it comes to tyres - I very rarely run tyres that ‘role faster’, instead opting for grippy tread patterns. This is likely a product of the terrain I ride most of the time. Largely, we are all products of our environment.

  • I often run high pressures in the rear tyre… mainly due to having broke pretty much any rear rim I have owned, despite running higher pressures. So I bought these carbon Santa Cruz Reserve wheels to put an end to that… In the first 6 months of owning these rims I went through two! But since being replaced under warranty and adding an insert, it has been sweet. Again I think this is a product of riding really rocky terrain pretty much every ride… nothing lasts forever, especially in harsh environments

Other than that, its pretty standard setup.
